Stronger Child Care Regulation Amendments Heard in Senate


Yesterday the Indiana Senate heard 2nd reading amendments on HB1136, Registered Ministry Advisory Council. 

Amendment #5 drafted by Sen. G. Walker (R-Columbus) was passed through voice vote. This amendment defines a child care ministry. You can read the full amendment here.

Sen. Taylor then called down amendment #2, a bill to standardize health and safety standards for all child care providers. The amendment had much discussion on it but was eventually defeated by a 19-30 vote. You can read the full amendment here.

HB1136 is now eligible for 3rd reading in the Senate.

The local media has reported heavily on this issues and proposed legislation including WRTV that contacted us for comment.
